JUNE ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING

The June meeting, which will include an election of officers for our coming fiscal year, has been delayed until June 14 to allow better participation of the nominees.  A listing of the nominees, and instructions on how to vote if you cannot be present, will be sent out to all current Members by our President on June 7.

JUNE RECEPTION WITH INCOMING AND OUTGOING GRAND JURIES

Our usual reception to meet and greet both old and new Grand Jury members will be held at The Club at McGinnis Park starting at 4:00 pm on July 14.  Save the date.  This is a good opportunity for our members to meet and become better acquainted with the Grand Juries as well as for them to become acquainted with our supporting activities.

SPRING ACTIVITIES – Nadine Muller

This has been a very active spring, with the conclusion of our Outreach Committee Activities to encourage applications for the next Grand Jury, our Selection Advisory Committee to assist the Judge in her review of applications, a revision of our Training Manual, and preparation for the Training of the new Grand Jury.  In addition, we now have 99 members of our Chapter, 55 of whom are life members.  Click here to view the memorandum I sent as your outgoing President to our parent California Grand Jurors’ Association for their publication in their Journal.

SELECTION ADVISORY COMMITTEE – Tom Borden

This month’s primary activity has seen the completion of a revised activity for assisting Judge Simmons, the Presiding Judge, in selecting candidates for the drawing for the 2016-2017 Grand Jury which will take place on June 16.

This first involved an new activity of “Brain storming” by small groups of candidates to evaluate each individual candidate’s skills in effectively working within a group.  This was then followed by individual interviews of each candidate.

Click here to review my detailed report of this activity, it’s apparent results and a listing of the 21 members who generously volunteered their time to participate in these activities.

SMART TRAIN RIDE

On May 12 about 40 of the members of the current Marin County Grand Jury and of our supporting Chapter were invited to ride along on a test drive of the new SMART TRAIN.  Click here to view pictures of that trip.
