Summary – – Everyone loves the iconic Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Marin County Civic Center — from the freeway. Inside, however, it is clearly in need of love after decades of deferred maintenance. The Grand Jury finds that maintenance and rehabilitation of the Civic Center have generally been reactive rather than guided by a long-term, prioritized plan, and that security improvements have not been consistently addressed. The Civic Center holds a unique place in architectural history and in the hearts of Marin County residents. With a new County governance structure and leadership in place, now is the time to assess the Civic Center Campus’s current and future needs and uses.
